'Only': Sampha reveals new single and visual from forthcoming album
After announcing his first album in 5 years, 'Lahai', at the end of last month, Sampha returns with a brand single and music video lifted from the highly-anticipated project.
Following the recent 'Spirit 2.0' release, the Mercury Prize-winner collaborated with Dexter Navy to direct the new music video for fresh track, titled 'Only'. During the visual, we meet a newly energised Sampha who spits melodically over a fragmented hip-hop hued beat with co-production from El Guincho.
Fans began to expect news of a follow up to 2017's 'Process' album back in June, when the artist shared a video captioned "Messages… Signals….," which stitched together photos and footage of himself and collaborators at work in the studio.
Explaining the meaning behind the name of the upcoming record in a new post on social media, Sampha wrote: "My grandfather’s name. My middle name. My next musical chapter. My next album. Fever Dreams. Continuums. Dancing. Generations. Syncopation. Bridges. Grief. Motherlands. Love. Spirit. Fear. Flesh. Flight."
