Paige Bea Releases Cinematic 'Flutters' EP
London-based singer, songwriter, and producer Paige Bea has unveiled her new EP, the alt-electronic 'Flutters'. The three-track collection features the new title track along with the previously released singles, dark feminist anthem, 'Worth It' and cinematic 'Floods.'
Having previously described her sound as the "sonic offspring of Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek and Imogen Heap," new track 'Flutters' was inspired by Bea's idols Shygirl, Grimes, Oklou, and Sevdaliza.
Originating during an online songwriting session in July 2022, despite being in the midst of an intense heatwave and dealing with a sudden, painful breakup, Paige Bea was determined to channel her emotions into her music. Initially, the lyrics felt too intense, leading to a pause in the project. It wasn’t until a year later, in a Berlin studio with producer Gabriel Gifford, that 'Flutters' found its final form. The track, which almost became two separate songs, found its way back together, creating a powerful narrative arc.
It's with a haunting, choral tone, Bea's ethereal voice takes centre stage. The song takes a sharp left turn for the chorus with glitchy vocals and experimental electronic production.
The visual aspect of 'Flutters' is equally striking, with cover art created by Greek digital artist Chloe Karnezis. Using Unreal Engine, Karnezis crafted a series of covers featuring Paige as a metahuman, a process that involved 3D scanning her face and employing digital manipulation. The 'Flutters' cover art is the final piece in this three-part series.
'Flutters' is out now via DMY.
