klurax splices shoegaze with drum 'n' bass on ethereal new track 'u me forever'
New York-based bedroom producer and singer/songwriter klurax is back with her second offering this year, releasing the dreamy new single ‘u me forever’.
After sharing the successful ‘ode to girlhood’ track last year before following it up with ‘warming’ earlier in 2022, the up-and-coming songstress continues her exciting series of singles with another gem taken from her upcoming EP.
Crystallising her ethereal vocals and high energy breaks through a hazy lens of retro-tinged drum ‘n’ bass production, klurax’s latest offering switches lanes into the world of shoegaze and synth pop with a vocal style reminiscent of Chromatics, Grouper and Frou Frou.
The sound is somewhat comparable to the Gen Z rave revival proliferating in various corners of the internet with acts like PinkPantheress, yunè pinku and piri & tommy leading the way. Swapping out the pitched-up bubble gum production in place for a DIY style rooted in ’90’s indie, klurax is mastering the art of repurposing throw-back sounds for a modern world.
