Groove to Global Beats at the 2024 World Music Festival Taiwan
The 2024 World Music Festival @ Taiwan (WMFT) returns for its 8th edition from 11th to 13th October at Taipei Music Center, showcasing 100 local and international musicians across three stages.
Hosted by the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development and organised by Wind Music, WMFT has grown into a premier event, drawing over 200,000 participants since its inception.
This year's theme, "Groove to Your Addiction," highlights 28 performances spanning Taiwan and 10 other countries. The festival features acts like Suonno D’Ajere from Italy, Kizaba from Canada, Japan’s MINYO CRUSADERS, and the fusion of Indigenous Taiwanese music with electronic beats by DJ Dungi Sapor and Taiwu Ballads Troupe.
A key feature of WMFT is its commitment to cultural exchange. With 16 showcase groups selected from 169 applicants, the festival continues its mission of providing local artists with international exposure. Past performers have gone on to prestigious events like Colours of Ostrava and Tallinn Music Week.
Beyond the performances, festivalgoers can enjoy Earth Bazaars, offering crafts, food, and music from around the world. International forums and the Music Roundtable will also facilitate dialogue on artist mobility, innovation, and networking.
With a blend of dynamic performances and global sounds, WMFT 2024 promises a sensory feast that bridges cultures and creates lasting musical connections.
