Finn and Local Action launch Mixtape Club to pay DJs while clubs are shut
Mixtape Club is a new non-profit project from Finn and Local Action that aims to support DJs financially throughout the pandemic.
With clubnights on hold indefinitely, Mixtape Club has come up with a model that pays selectors for their craft.
Billed as “A free dance music mixtape series where DJs get paid,” the club will commission six mixtapes between January and July 2021 “by some of our favourite DJs”.
Each DJ will be paid £150 to plan and record a “no rules” dance music mixtape and will also be given a £150 budget to commission a designer to come up with artwork.
The first release is due later this month, and you can support Mixtape Club via their Patreon and “pay on the door” for £5. Any additional profits will be split between the DJs involved in the series.
We're proud to launch @mixtape_club.
