Dummy Mix 625 | ABSOLUTE.
DJ-producer and social activist ABSOLUTE. aka Anthony McGinley started DJing at the age of 14. Finding his way into London’s queer clubbing scene as a promoter, he’s since fine-tuned an impressive creative output that spans techno, disco, acid, house and breaks. Breakout single ‘String Theory’ saw ABSOLUTE. receive support from Annie Mac, Danny Howard and Pete Tong, and his recent release, lockdown-born mixtape ‘Wonderland’ spread a beautiful message of hope and equality for all.
His 2019 track (released on his own label Family Planning) ‘Rave Against The Machine’ featured a sample of Greta Thunberg that forged a connection with Extinction Rebellion and led ABSOLUTE. to play a momentous Trafalgar Square set alongside other headliners Disclosure. It was followed by the recently released deluxe edition of the ‘Wonderland’ mixtape, an eighteen-track body of work stacked full of straight up bangers and absolute floor-fillers. After going on what would turn out to be the last tour with acid house legends, 808 State, before the passing of Andrew Barker, ABSOLUTE. has shone some of his vibrancy in the direction of Dummy for a mix that he’s aptly titled ‘Disco For Dummies’ – a blend of euphoric disco, fiery acid and playful house.
