Dummy Mix 620 | Cameo Blush
London producer John Dunk aka Cameo Blush has always had an eye for the more mind-bending and abstract spectrum of dance sounds. Starting out on Nick Höppner’s Touch From A Distance before releasing on Unknown Untitled and Ross From Friends’ new Scarlet Tiger imprint, Dunk’s fascination with off-kilter electronics has made him one of dance music’s most interesting rising prospects of late. His latest project is ‘Lucky’: three tracks which continue his left-field odyssey with a melange of skittered drums and moody pads.
Showing no signs of slowing down with two EPs under his belt already this year, Cameo Blush has toasted an exclusive mix for Dummy sprinkled with some previously unheard material. “I wanted to put a lot of different stuff in this mix, and to try sum up the music that has influenced me over the last few years – a lot of these tracks I collected over lockdown in a big folder on my computer. It was fun to try and join the more disparate parts together in this mix,” he says. “I’m usually quite precious about putting rough versions of my own tunes in mixes but decided to go for it with this one so there’s a few old projects, demos and unreleased stuff in there.”
