Konan opens up about living with PTSD in new documentary 'Trapped In Trauma'
Konan has opened up about his battle with PTSD in a touching new documentary that follows the artist as he receives treatment for the debilitating condition for the first time.
The Rap Game UK host gives intimate access to his own therapy sessions as Untold's exclusive data analysis reveals more than 300,000 16 to 24-year-olds are struggling with PTSD, many of whom are undiagnosed.
Konan began having flashbacks and other symptoms of PTSD, including anxiety, paranoia, anger, and intense feelings of guilt over a decade ago after his mother was shot and his stepfather killed by gang members who broke into his house attempting to get to Konan.
Commenting on the new film on Twitter, Konan wrote: "Over the past few months, I have been involved in the filming of a documentary for Channel 4. The focus of this documentary was my personal journey through therapy, which aimed to address and cope with my past traumas. As a result, I received an official diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Throughout the documentary, I traveled across the country, meeting and connecting with other individuals who were also grappling with PTSD."
“I hope this documentary encourages others to engage in open dialogue, rather than bottling up things like I did,” he also shared.
