James Blake continues his journey towards the dance floor with immersive new single 'Loading'

"I am really excited about this new one..."

James Blake continues the roll-out for his highly anticipated forthcoming album with new single 'Loading'.

Earlier this month, the producer announced his new 'Playing Robots Into Heaven' album with the twitchy electronic anthem 'Big Hammer', a noticeable departure from the usual avant-garde vocal offerings that we’re used to hearing.

Now wading further into the mire of moody, club-oriented dance music, Blake's latest single, 'Loading', represents yet another artistic leap forward with its immersive production and experimental tendencies.

The track launched on BBC Radio 1 earlier today as their 'Hottest Record In The World', with James joining Jack Saunders on air to talk about the single and his upcoming album.

“I am really excited about this new one," Blake commented on the electronic sound of the new track. "I’ve been demoing it at CMYK, which is my club night that I’ve been putting on every month in Los Angeles and we just did one on in London and it’s all synergising with each other, if you know what I mean. The record, and the club night.”

On first inspection, the new track appears to enlist a female vocalist alongside Blake's - but both sets of vocals are in fact his. Explaining the use of vocal effects in the track, he told Jack: “It gives me kind of license to make a rowdier beat underneath it and make it a bit more club-worthy. I feel less self-conscious when I’m working with my vocals like that. So, I guess it gives me a bit of freedom. And that’s how this one started.”
