Gorillaz team up with slowthai and Slaves for Britpop-inspired track 'Momentary Bliss'

The collaboration marks the first instalment in new Gorillaz series Song Machine...

The all-conquering group recognised by The Guinness Book Of World Records as the planet’s Most Successful Virtual Act are back, this time tapping up two of the UK’s most identity-encompassing and boundary-pushing names in Northampton’s slowthai and punk-duo Slaves.

Fusing together the best of Britpop and punk and everything in-between, the guitar-thrashing ‘Momentary Bliss’ is the answer to what happens when you lock some of the nation’s wildest music personalities in a studio just to see what the outcome is.

The collaboration marks the first instalment in new Gorillaz series Song Machinean inventive concept breaking the traditional conventions of releasing music that aims to keep the cameras rolling 24/7 as an exciting roster of as-yet unannounced artists work together with the virtual group to produce a one-off hit.

Accompanying the track, the visuals provide a coming-together of the physical and virtual world as Laurie and Isaac of Slaves and slowthai (who has recently been announced to play at WOO HAH! festival 2020) jam out with the iconic cartoon band consisting of 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel.

Each episode of Song Machine will be accompanied by Machine Bites, an array of bitesized conversations taking place between the virtual band members and real life collaborators.
