Aphex Twin's Field Day vinyl is re-selling for hundreds on eBay
Aphex Twin released a limited edition run of 12" vinyls to mark his headline performance at Field Day over the weekend - and they're already appearing online for a lot of money.
The elusive producer - real name Richard D James - put the Victoria Park day festival through its paces on Saturday evening with an hour and a half show of twisted techno beats and mind-bending visuals. Marking his first UK show since playing Printworks back in 2019, the 52-year-old musician sampled tracks from his discography, including notable moments from his 'Syro' album and his recently released EP 'Blackbox Life Recorder 21f / In a Room7 F760'.
The Field Day-special 5-track vinyls were limited to a run of 100 copies and had sold out before the day had barely begun. They began to surface online not long after for hundreds of pounds higher than the original £5 asking price.
Aphex Twin released a similar limited edition vinyl when he headlined the festival back in 2017 - and they were just as hard to get a hold of back then.
One listing on eBay for the 2023 version is asking for £799, while a bidding war taking place on another listing currently sits at £520 with 5 bidders.
Last week, the producer released a new augmented reality (AR) app, YXBoZXh0d2lu, to accompany his latest EP.
The free app, which is available to download now, offers an “alternative world” of interactive AR that incorporates the artwork, visuals, and sounds from Aphex Twin’s ‘Blackbox Life Recorder 21f / in a room7 F760’, released on 28th July via Warp.
Watch a video demo of the app below, or try it for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
