Aphex Twin announces first EP in five years with dark-edged new single
Aphex Twin is back with a brand new single to mark the announcement of his first EP since 2019's 'Peel Session 2' project.
The four-track project, titled ‘Blackbox Life Recorder 21f / in a room7 F760’, is out July 28 via Warp Records and will be the first new music from the producer and DJ in five years.
Arriving shortly before Aphex Twin is due to headline London's Field Day festival and Lisbon's Kalorama festival, it's likely he will debut some of the new material in a live setting later this summer. The first single ‘Blackbox Life Recorder 21f’ is out now and finds the elusive electronic music icon at his best.
Back in 2022, the producer designed and released a new “sample-mashing” app called Samplebrain.
“Since funding this project I seemed to have found very little time to explore it properly and the time has now come to let you lot have a fiddle with it too," he wrote in a blog post. Read the blog post in full here and try Samplebrain for yourself here.
